The city of Venice, with its long history with design, visual arts and crafts, will host for the fourth consecutive year the Venice Design Week. From 12 to 20 October the city will be enriched with references, workshops, exhibitions and an international competition design.
The cultural association vogliadarte.it invites young designers, architects and creatives from around the world to participate in this competition. The theme for 2013 is “FRIENDLY THINGS” and aims to encourage participants to create useful objects, easy to use and that respect the environment.
The projects will be evaluated by a committee of teachers of universities and design schools most outstanding in Europe (Barcelona, London, Paris and some universities in the United States).
The aim of Venice Design Week is to open a dialogue between professionals and international design schools, improve production and create a milestone meeting for development and innovation in this area, this international design competition, opens a channel for direct dialogue with companies, and proposes a route through the narrow streets to discover the places devoted to design.
In addition, the project “Public Company” is a section designed with the idea of creating a direct dialogue between the public and the realities of production of design objects. The Venice Design Week understands the need and importance of contact by the designers to start producing their own projects with those companies and professionals responsible for marketing the final product.
The city of Venice becomes, during the design week, on a route to explore the workshops of artisans found in Venice their workplace.
