LIGHT + BUILDING
Organiser: HIGHLIGHT Verlagsgesellschaft mbH
Date: 15-20 April 2012
Location: Hall 3.1 B30
Light as a ‘building material’ is omnipresent these days: as a way of temporarily transforming a building, as illumination or simply in terms of a well-lit interior. And, for several years now, the lighting plan, which is a necessary basis for this, has been seen as an integral part of the overall planning process and is creating a whole new area for itself in the world of construction.
What is often still missing for a better appreciation of the importance of lighting in architecture is a way of distinguishing what is special, viz. an award. For the German-speaking world, the largest lighting market in Europe, there now exists, as from 2011, the German Lighting Design Award, which has brought together planners, the media and industry.
The winners of the German Award for Lighting Design 2011.
The German Lighting Design Award is conferred on a yearly basis. The winners are chosen by a highly qualified panel of experts in a total of ten categories. This involves not only an adjudication based on a photograph but an actual site visit, so that the jury can get an impression themselves of the lighting effect. Entries may be submitted by either planners or developers from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Benelux countries.
The award ceremony, on 24 May 2012, will itself take place in the festive atmosphere of the Curio-Haus in Hamburg. Lighting planners, architects, developers and the lighting industry will meet up for this sector event in a relaxed, festive environment, where they will enjoy a convivial and inspiring evening. So the award ceremony will become a fixed star in the architectural lighting firmament for the network of planners, industry and education.
The German Lighting Design Award also has a presence at Light+Building 2012. Find out more about the categories, the award-winners for 2011, the 2012 event and sponsorship opportunities – and make your presence in the sector felt, as well as displaying your close links with it.
