The 2014 Superyacht Design Week, a three-day event that brings together influential designers and suppliers from around the globe, will be held June 24-26 at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour, London.
Hosted by the Superyacht Group, the SuperyachtDesign Week aims to celebrate the best in large yacht design and discuss how projects of the future are not only breath-taking and glamorous, but intelligent and forward thinking.
Throughout the event there are opportunities to get inspired by this ever-evolving world with thought-provoking discussions, keynote talks, breakout brainstorm sessions, lunches, workshops and Artisan & Innovator Showcases.
Confirmed speakers include top names such as legendary designer Martin Francis of Francis Design Consulting and Marnix Hoekstra of Vripack. A focus on the increasing impact from outside the industry will include insights from Hugo Nightingale of Jaguar and Andrew Bailey of McLaren on how life on the road is influencing life on the ocean.
It is worth to mention the recent collaboration between Martin Francis and Swarovski. When Swarovski joined forces with Francis to push the boundaries of crystal application it made for a perfect partnership. Martin Francis is famous for his glass engineering and yacht design, and he has worked projects such as the Louvre pyramid in Paris, the iconic yacht ECO, and a collaboration with Philippe Starck on the radical superyacht ‘A’.Francis visited Swarovski and became interested in the crystals’ versatility and potential for playing with light, reflections, and colour in order to lend discreet emphasis to specific features in luxury interiors.
Martin Francis started to use so called the Swarovski Surface Collection, this collaboration between two leading exponents of their craft has produced a range of super-luxe surface treatments for adding crystal refinement to high-end outfitting on materials such as wood, suede, leather and glass. The resulting panels demonstrate an awe-inspiring variety of aesthetic treatments.
Patrik Schumacher, company director at Zaha Hadid Architects will deliver a closing keynote presentation.
Exploring everything from developments in space planning, interior construction, 3D design and trend forecasting to the implementation of innovative materials and technology, Superyacht Design Week will offer designers the chance to not only explore what the future holds, but to exchange ideas with leading visionaries and network with like-minded individuals, exchange inovative ideas for yeacts decoration.
