CINDY SHERMAN
MUST-SEES
New York is the city that never sleeps. At MoMa, art also doesn’t sleep. The great novelty of May is called “Cindy Sherman”, the retrospective that traces the American artist’s career from the mid-1970s to the present. The collection covers more than 170 photographs that feature the artist herself as model. Her mood is captured in a disturbing way.
Highlights include the black-and-white pictures from her Untitled Film Stills series that star Sherman dressed up as Hollywood ingenues; her history portraits, in which she poses as characters straight from old master paintings; and her recent transformations into high-society matrons.
