Each edition, famous and market-established designers/architects take the stage and discuss with the attendees what’s new in the design community, and what’s going to take it by storm. And the IMM Cologne 2018 is no exception. Today, Best Design Events will show you the best lectures that you can attend at this amazing event!
The kick-off to each day, presented by Frank A. Reinhardt, is a fixed item on the programme. Each morning, he will offer the audience a professional overview of the trends and buzzwords at IMM Cologne 2018. Frank A. Reinhardt is an industrial designer with a background in Business Administration. After working in product management for some years, Reinhardt simply wanted to publish an original observation. All at once, he found himself recruited in a freelance capacity and eventually as a freelance editor for such publications as SBZ and design report. After a spell at one of some corporate design agencies, he went into business for himself in 1999, focusing on projects ranging from trend and market studies and the conception and editing of special publications.

What has to be observed for holistic planning? These are the questions the lecture of Susanne Brandherm and Sabine Krumrey addresses on The Stage. The two architects will explain the correct way of handling natural materials to ensure sustainable buildings. Instructions for a happy living; who doesn’t want that? In the lecture on the subject of her book, Barbara Delius unites the most important current living trends, such as the combination of old & new, natural materials, colour and indoor plants. And in order that the whole thing isn’t simply trendy, but also contributes to a sense of well-being, the author visited the happiest people on Earth, the Danes, and had a good, long look at their homes, in order to find out the secret of their living happiness.
The architect and designer Sigurd Larsen wants to change the way people understand and perceive common home improvement store materials with his innovative design insights. In cooperation with Hornbach, he is continuing the Danish design tradition and reconnecting people with materials and design. The goal: to make design accessible to everyone. With a designer chair that you can´t buy, but have to build yourself – with materials from a home improvement superstore. In his lecture, Larsen talks about his idea of design for all and about the project with Hornbach.

The colour spectrum for body, mind and soul is based on a scientific research project that Professor Axel Venn will be presenting in his lecture. The results of this study help, in particular, to give vital insights into the quality of life and quality of living in one’s own home.
