Once a monk now a furniture designer, Tucker Robbins has passed the last twenty years working with indigenous craftsmen and searching for inspirations in their culture. The result: unique pieces that translate the tradition of faraway tribals in modern designs. Robbins passion lies in the cooperation among global cultures, bringing the spirit and craft from the tribal cottage industry to contemporary life.
My favourite piece of his collection is Porcelain’s Spider’s Nest. Made with Peruvian Porcelain, the pattern represents the universal cicle of life and the unity within the community. This gorgeous gold sidetable, made by artisans in Peru, can be seen at booth 233.
