The Venice Biennale was founded in 1895 and it is now one of the most famous and prestigious cultural organizations in the world. Paolo Baratta has been its President since 2008 and before that from 1998 to 2001. La Biennale, who stands at the forefront of research and promotion of new contemporary art trends, organizes exhibitions and research in all its specific sectors: Arts (1895), Architecture (1980), Cinema (1932), Dance (1999), Music (1930), and Theatre (1934). Its history is documented at the Historical Archives of Contemporary Arts (Asac) that recently has been completely renovated.
The 56th International Art Exhibition is taking place at the Giardini, and in many other location between 9th May to 22nd November. This year one of the highlights is without any doubts the Moon Kyungwon and Jeon Joonho korean pavilion at the 56th international art exhibition.
‘The ways of folding space & flying’ is a new multi-channel film installation that explores an archeological quest into human civilization, interweaving history with visions of the future dictated through a future-retrospective narrative. Simultaneously, it also alludes to the institutional structure and historic evolution of its venue, the venice biennale, specifically its global scale and influence which have been dictated and acquired within a shifting socio-political landscape.
