Today is the last day of Design Days Dubai, the first fair in the Middle East and South Asia dedicated to collectible, exclusive and limited editiondesign. The fair brought a fresh dimension to the region’s arts and design scene along with world-renowned contemporary art fair Art Dubai. During four days, visitors were able to view over 400 works of design along with a packed programme of talks, workshops and performances.

Held in collaboration with the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, the Emirate’s dedicated Authority for culture, arts, and heritage, Design Days Dubai is an annual event in the international art and design calendar attracting influential galleries, collectors, designers, critics and curators from around the world with its exclusive showcase of collectible and limited edition design and cultural and educational programme.

Design Days Dubai took place at a spetacular purpose built venue at the foot of the world’s tallest tower, and exhibited 22 of the world’s leading design galleries specializing in 20th and 21st century collectible design took part in this year’s fair, along with a public series of talks and workshops led by international designers and experts including Rabih Hage, Li Edelkoort, Nada Debs and Kwangho Lee. Two galleries, Sao Paulo’s + Coletivo Amor de Madre and Seoul’s Croft gallery, have both chosen Design Days Dubai for their first showcase of work outside their respective countries.

Other highlights included Amsterdam’s Sebastian Brajkovic, whose Victorian-inspired chairs look as though they have been pixilated and stretched through Photoshop and Korea’s Lee Jae-Hyo, an artisan of finely crafted seating carved out of pine and chestnut. New York lighting designer Lindsay Adelman and London-based Canadian furniture maker Philippe Malouin were both in that show.
